Administratively speaking, the relations between this as a metropolitan entity, and the City of London and the County of London, along with nearby Westminster, are matters to be fleshed out, as well as the less formal factors of proximity vis-à-vis phenomena of social networks.

Regarding Westminster, some patent data have it situated within "London, S.W."[1], and as within the County of London, with no otherwise mention of London[2], and we have the "City of Westminster".[3]

The suffixes S.W., N.E., and so forth were "post codes", and are often shown on London addresses on patents. Their boundaries and meanings have changed over time. We don't have a map of them around our period, say 1900-1910, but can look. For some details see w:London postal district and w:SW postcode area. We could make pages for those subunits of London to see where the aero people filed from more precisely.
