  • Biplane, with significant design differences between the upper and lower planes.
  • From abstract on google patents: "2215. Theinert, W. Jan. 28. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement and construction of. [This] flying machine comprises an upper main plane a having the front part of substantially uniform width and the rear part tapering in width, as shown in Fig. 2; a lower supporting-plane e of uniform width; and the usual elevators t, rudder r, and propeller s. The underside of the plane a may be formed with a series of concavities d extending transversely, for preventing the formation of eddies. The front edge of the plane a may be curved as shown in Fig. 2. Steering. The main plane a can be adjusted about a transverse axis k by means of links l, connected to the plane and to nuts m engaging right and left handed screws on a rod n rotated bv a hand-wheel o. The lower plane e may also be adjusted about a transverse axis. p."
  • The patent appears to have been granted in the normal way but its abstract says "Sealing fee not paid." That phrase is NOT stamped on the spec document itself.
