"The present invention has for its object an apparatus of automatic stability, with lateral action, for flying machines, composing wings linked rigidly to one another, with elastic extremities, the apparatus in question being characterized by the fact that the wings are established in such a manner as to be able to turn around and axis disposed in the longitudinal vertical median plane of the aircraft’s frame, and that the said lower exterior surfaces are constituted of elastic parts, the rigid parts of these wings carrying supports directed downwardly, and receiving, at their free extremity, guided rollers, over which pass cables, which end at a fixed point on the frame of the aircraft, on the axis of wing rotation, in such a manner as to automatically assure, during the rotation or the displacement of the wings, a corresponding displacement of the elastic extremities of these latter (wings)."
(These elaborate means of combining the virtues of elasticity and rigidity are somewhat novel. Of precise interest also are rollers, or bearings, operating in conjunction with cables.)
This must be related in its conception to Patent FR-1910-417722, filed by the same pair of inventors, using an identical French invention title, filed in fact of the very same day. Here again we have Hungarian interest in stability of airplanes, achieved automatically, said achievement being arrived at through an always distinct and varied number of different principles and means. In the case of these two patents relative to one another, the inventors must have been going over principles, as consciously varied, and distinguishing them, separately, rather than forcing them into one "system".
