Augustus Roy Knabenshue was an American aeronaut and aviator from Toledo, Ohio.

Knabenshue on a postcard marked August 1905.

Knabenshue got his start at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, where he operated the captive balloon and at one point did a stunt descent from it by sliding down the long cord (with no gloves). Thomas S. Baldwin then chose Knabenshue (126 pounds to Baldwin's 210) to pilot his airship, the California Arrow. Knabenshue's flights in October broke records (for duration?) and were considered the best performances of the fair. His attempt to set a distance record in early November did not succeed.[1].
